New Nordic Anthropology is an informal scholarly network created in 2021. It organizes digital conversations on the latest developments in the anthropology of the Nordic countries. The 2021 series consisted of four themed digital roundtables: Welfare, Environments, Technologies, and Diversities. In 2022, we are back with four more: Nordic Datafication, Arts and the Arctic, Reaching Out in Different Directions, and Migration, Borders, and the Nordic Welfare States.

Each roundtable is 90 minutes, consisting of a 60-minute panel discussion and 30 minutes of broader conversation with the audience. The series will be hosted on Zoom. To join one or more sessions, please click “Join the Conversation” in the upper right corner of this page.

New Nordic Anthropology is co-organized by Kelly McKowen, Thomas Hylland Eriksen, and Helena Wulff. It is co-sponsored by SMU, Stockholm University, and the University of Oslo.
